Tony Troppito
Tony is a high tech executive with a track record for
delivering software products and services to aggressive
schedules, building cross-functional teams and introducing
comprehensive quality programs to young growing organizations.
He is a pioneer in the areas of Pragmatic Software Quality
Assurance and Hybrid Software Development methodologies.
Most recently he has been a leader in developing approaches
that maximize a company’s return on investment
in development and testing infrastructure. His experience
in creating and leading quality teams and creating software
development frameworks spans virtually all levels of
system, middleware and application software. He has
led development teams and built quality assurance and
release functions for products spanning personnel computers,
client server architectures and the Internet.
Tony founded Managing Technology on the premise that
quality assurance is more than just testing. Rather,
QA is an integral part of the complete development process
from requirements gathering through sales and customer
support. Properly structured and used, the quality team
is an invaluable asset not just for finding defects,
but also for focusing and improving the development
process. He finds this to be particularly true for organizations
where it is critical to control costs, achieve time
to market goals, and building a base of reference-able
customers.
Tony has participated in the development of software
products and services for over 25 years. For the last
15 years he has designed and implemented quality programs
and organizations for the delivery of Internet and client
server products. Prior to that he was a senior technical
leader for the design and implementation of networked
personal computer software and hardware systems. He
has held the roles of Software Architect, Senior System
Architect, Senior Development Manager, Director of Software
Quality Assurance, COO, and co-founder of two companies.
He has a unique understanding of the pressures and processes
involved in building a viable business based on the
development of innovative computer products. His background
affords him a unique perspective on the integration
of project management, quality assurance and product
development.
Tony holds a Masters in Environmental Engineering (emphasis
on computer modeling) from Northwestern University Evanston
Illinois and a BS in Computer Science and Environmental
Science from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.
