As companies approach bringing product to market, they
frequently find it necessary to significantly change
their approach to testing and quality assurance. Managing
Technology has extensive experience in re-directing
existing test teams and building new test teams during
critical product release cycles. We accomplish this
by working closely with cross-functional organizations,
particularly software development, to arrive at appropriate
structure and approaches to testing. We employ a very
hands-on management style to directing the efforts of
internal and outsourced resources to accomplish testing
and develop the appropriate testing infrastructure.
If time is critical, existing personnel, new hires,
outsource and contract test resources are engaged as
appropriate to meet the immediate needs. Skeleton test
plans are developed and test scripts are generated in
parallel with actual testing. Various defect and test
management procedures are created. Once the immediate
project needs are met, longer term processes are developed
and testers are hired as per the needs of the organization.
Leaderhip is critical to any test team. Managing Technology
works closely with your recruiting function to find
the right manager/leader for the testing organization.
We then work with the various internal teams to ensure
a comprehensive and consistent interview process and
smooth transition of leadership.
The Approach
Managing Technology works closely with all members of
the cross functional team including engineering management,
customer service and product management to understand
and define organizational structure and procedures for
the testing and quality functions.
When a new organization is being built, new roles are
defined and job descriptions are generated. Managing
Technology performs senior management and technical
project lead for new hires and contractors to orient
and integrate new team members until appropriate management
is in place and the organization becomes self-sufficient.
When working with outsource testing, Managing Technology
assists in contract negotiations, milestone creation,
and overall project management. Managing Technology
brings extensive experience working with local and offshore
test and development teams.
As necessary internal test, beta test and limited release
programs are established and managed. All of this is
done in close cooperation with the various existing
organizations inside of the company.
