Our Approach
Managing Technology tailors its approach and deliverables
to your specific needs. However, most of our engagements
fall into one of three broad categories.
Product Delivery
When asked to help deliver a product into the market,
our role inside of a client company is typically that
of senior contributor and integral part of the senior
management team. For many of these engagements we take
on a role that is equivalent to VP of Quality Assurance
and Project Management reporting to the CEO, CTO or
Senior VP of Product Development. Our work frequently
involves line management responsibility for building
and managing one or more of the organizations necessary
for on-going product development and support.
Quality program and software life cycle definition
When asked to modify and define approaches to quality
and software development, we research a company’s
current sales, marketing, development, testing, support
and business practices. We believe, to be successful,
quality programs and software life cycles must mirror
the business and management environment of a company.
In close cooperation with key managers and individual
contributors we develop and document appropriate approaches
to product definition, development, testing, quality
assurance and release. Managing Technology has direct
project level experience delivering products using a
variety of software methodologies, including various
forms of Agile, Rapid Application Development and classic
staged processes. We can selectively fashion quality
and life cycle approaches that fit a company’s
needs.
Software testing and development evaluations and
recommendations
When asked to provide recommendations to increase the
efficiency and effectiveness of testing and development,
we research the current approaches a company takes to
quality and product implementation. We interview internal
contributors, managers, people that feed information
and deliverables into the organization and people that
consume the deliverables from the organization. Our
review includes looking at the current tools, project
documents, communication mechanisms, organization and
personnel. We document our findings and recommendations
with the target audience in mind.
